Saving the Wheat – July 17, 2011

Pastor Jennifer preaches on the parable of the one who planted good seed, but then “while everybody was asleep, an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat” (Matthew 13). Instead of simply telling his slaves to pull up the weeds, the landowner unexpectedly tells them not to pull the weeds, just because some of the wheat would also be lost. He tells them to wait until it can be seen what is what. This is such a powerful parable. It means that God will allow us to grow and will never reject us because of what is around us. What’s more, what could seem a weed to any of us may be the exact opposite — also an important statement on judging others.
